UPDATE: Penticton worker killed in fall reportedly hit rock

WorkSafeBC is investigating after a Penticton construction site worker found dead

A worker who fell to his death at Sendero Canyon over the weekend fell just one storey, but reportedly hit his head on a rock, according to an executive with the project.

Emergency officials were called to Sendero Canyon before 9 p.m. Sunday after a man害羞草研究所檚 body was found. Penticton RCMP said it is working with the B.C. Coroners Service and WorkSafeBC in their investigations.

Ewen Stewart, president of Azura Management, one of two companies running the Sendero Canyon project, said he has only heard third-hand about the incident. He got reports from supervisors of the construction site, who got a call from emergency crews on Sunday.

Those supervisors called WorkSafeBC, and officials promptly came out to the site and interviewed people involved.

Stewart added the roofer, a subcontractor with another company, does not appear to have called the company he works for either.

As for safety, Stewart said he isn害羞草研究所檛 sure what could have been done differently from the company害羞草研究所檚 perspective, calling it 害羞草研究所渁 tragic result.害羞草研究所

He added the company holds weekly safety meetings and has a full-time safety person and regular reports with the WorkSafeBC.

Stewart said the worker was well-known by workers on the site, having done roofs of numerous houses in the project, 害羞草研究所渁nd he did a good job.害羞草研究所

Stewart said he is awaiting a WorkSafeBC report to get more information about the incident.

UPDATE:

Penticton RCMP is assisting the B.C. Coroners Service and WorkSafeBC to investigate the death of a worker at the Sendero Canyon residential development.

Police attended the scene at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports that a dead male had been found.

Police say they have confirmed the 59-year-old man害羞草研究所檚 death was a result of a worksite-related incident, having fallen from a structure on the site.

Police are not releasing anymore information at this point.

A worker was found deceased at a construction site in Penticton, according to a report from WorkSafeBC.

A media relations officer for WorkSafeBC said their preliminary report indicates they were contacted at 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 and RCMP reported a worker was found deceased at Sendero Canyon.

WorkSafeBC is investigating.
