The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is investigating after a stolen van rammed into a Grindrod business early Friday morning in what police say appeared to be an intentional act.

The RCMP received a report that a vehicle had crashed into a business in the 6900 block of Highway 97A in Grindrod just before 4 a.m. Sept. 13, according to media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski.

Officers at the scene found that a white Ford commercial van had been driven into a wall of the building, causing extensive damage to both the vehicle and the building.

"From a review of video surveillance at the business, it appears to be intentional," Terleksi said.

The van was confirmed to have been stolen from an Enderby location earlier that morning.

Police arrived to the scene to find the van abandoned, and so far the driver has not been located.

The incident remains under investigation.
