Water restrictions on tap in North Okanagan

Stage 2 restrictions in effect at noon on Wednesday

Armstrong and Spallumcheen have enacted stage two water restrictions for some local area services, effective at noon Wednesday, May 15.

害羞草研究所淭hese restrictions are in place as we switch our water source to our wells due to increased water turbidity in Fortune Creek due to spring run-off,害羞草研究所 the city of Armstrong said.

Compliance with water conservation measures is mandatory for all residents within the following areas:

害羞草研究所 Pleasant Valley Water Works District

害羞草研究所 Round Prairie Waterworks District

害羞草研究所 Highland Park Waterworks District

害羞草研究所 Stardell Waterworks District

害羞草研究所 Silver Star Waterworks District

害羞草研究所 Lansdowne Waterworks Districts

During stage two restrictions residents are not able to use a sprinkler or irrigation system to water a lawn, garden, trees or shrubs, or wash driveways, sidewalks, parking lots or exterior building surfaces.

Residents are allowed to:

害羞草研究所 Water a lawn, flower or vegetable garden, trees, shrubs or landscaped area, which combined do not exceed one acre in size if watering is done by hand-held container or a hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle but only during the prescribed Stage 1 watering hours and days;

害羞草研究所 Water newly planted trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables, new sod or newly seeded lawn if watering is done by hand-held container or a hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle during installation and for the following 24 hours;

害羞草研究所 Wash a vehicle with water using a hand held container or hose equipped with a shut off nozzle but only during the prescribed stage one watering hours and days; and

害羞草研究所 Fill or top up or add to a swimming pool, wading pool, hot tub, garden pond or decorative fountain but only during the prescribed stage one watering hours and days.

The township said bylaw enforcement will be patrolling and compliance with these restrictions is mandatory. Anyone caught breaking the bylaw may be subject to enforcement fines.
