1. Kelowna firefighter Chris Zimmerman, last weekend that destroyed an unfinished six-storey condominium building and a nearby residential motel, is recovering in hospital and doing better each day, says his father.

Gerry Zimmermann, the city害羞草研究所檚 well-known former fire chief and a former city councillor, told the 害羞草研究所 on Thursday his son has regained feeling in his burned hands and can move them, both encouraging signs.

Chris Zimmermann was suffered burns to his hands, as well as to his back and his calves, while on the second floor of the under-construction second building at the Water害羞草研究所檚 Edge development in the Mission area of the city Saturday.

2. The Salmon Arm Observer reported a personal look at the new assisted dying service.

害羞草研究所淗ello. This is Sally Scales. S-c-a-l-e-s. I害羞草研究所檓 in Salmon Arm and I am preparing to die tomorrow,害羞草研究所� said the message on the voice mail.

The message was left overnight Monday, July 3 at the Salmon Arm Observer office.

Sally was one of the more than 400 British Columbians to use the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) service since it became legal in Canada in June of 2016.

In her voice message, Sally said she was being blocked from using MAiD by her landlord because some tenants at Arbor Lodge seniors害羞草研究所� residence did not want it to happen there.

3. A by the Kelowna RCMP.

Police confirmed the identity of the body found inside the home destroyed by fire in the 900 block of Stockwell Avenue on April 1 and are calling the discovery a homicide.

The body has been identified as Michael Madsen, a 23-year-old Kelowna resident who lived at that house with other males at the time.
