Joseph Alfred Deschner, born May 7, 1928 in Biggar SK, died in Kelowna BC on July 23, 2016, of complications related to COPD. Raised near Dodsland SK, Joe joined many of his siblings in Vancouver BC in 1946 where he worked his way up through the farm equipment business at International Harvester dealerships, married Dorothy Prinster, had a son, and built a house for his family. In the early 1960害羞草研究所檚 he moved to Delta BC, built another house, and co-owned the IH dealership in Langley BC. Later he owned an Esso service station in Richmond BC. An avid fisherman, Joe semi-retired to Loon Lake BC in the mid-1970害羞草研究所檚, where he built a house for a third time, worked at the game check, looked after the local provincial campground and was an auxiliary RCMP. Everywhere he resided, Joe was an active member of the community and the Catholic Church and loved to be with family and friends. The early 1990害羞草研究所檚 saw his full retirement to West Kelowna. Dorothy害羞草研究所檚 death in 2003 and his failing health resulted in a move to an assisted living facility in Kelowna BC where he still called bingo and won at cribbage.

Joe was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; 6 brothers Frank (Ruby), Henry (Julia), Tony (Alice), Johnny (Cherry), Jack (Gen) and Mel and 2 sisters Madeline Graham (Bill) and Rita Raymond (Jasper). He is survived by son Alan (Susan Whiting) and granddaughter Monica (Matt Scott) of Saskatoon SK; sister-in-law Sheila Deschner of Dodsland SK; sister-in-law Margaret Kirby (Ralph) of Assiniboia SK; brother-in-law John Prinster (Sherry) of Coquitlam BC and a host of nieces and nephews throughout western Canada.

Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Westbank on Friday July 29, 2016 at 11:00am, burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
