B.C. duo takes bronze at Canada Games

Kelownaº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s Quinci Birker and partner Darby Dunn from Langley are returning home to B.C. with some national hardware in their possession.

Birker and Dunn captured the bronze medal in womenº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s beach volleyball at the in Winnipeg.

In the third-place game, the B.C. duo took care of Nova Scotia 2-0 (21-10 and 21-14.)

Birker and Dunn battled through their toughest challenge in the quarterfinals, rallying from behind to defeat host Manitoba 2-1 (15-21, 25-23, 15-13).

Birker and Dunn have had previous success at national events. They won at the Western Canada Summer Games in Fort McMurray, Alta.

Last season on B.C.º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s pro beach tour, the Team B.C. partners finished second overall in points.

Birker, 19, is a KSS grad and member of the UBC Okanagan Heat womenº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s volleyball squad.
