For the second straight weekend, the Kelowna Rockets split their two games.
On Friday night (Oct. 13) at Prospera Place, the Rockets took down the WHL害羞草研究所檚 top team, Prince George Cougars by the score of 5-4.
Veterans Gabriel Szturc and Caden Price made their season debuts and made an instant impact, each scoring a goal and adding an assist in the first period.
Special teams were the difference in the game as the Rockets scored three power-play goals and one shorthanded goal.
Dylan Wightman scored twice in the game while Andrew Cristall collected a goal and an assist.
Jari Kykkanen also returned to the Rockets lineup in net and made 35 saves in the win.
The next night was the exact opposite for the Rockets, who lost 9-2 against the Medicine Hat Tigers on 害羞草研究所楶ink the Rink害羞草研究所� night on Saturday, Oct. 14.
It wasn害羞草研究所檛 a great night on the ice as the Rockets gave up nine goals in a game for the second time in three games but the Rockets wore specialty pink jerseys that were auctioned during the game, which the Canadian Cancer Society will benefit from. The exact total of how much was raised is not known yet.
Cristall and Tij Iginla scored the two Rockets害羞草研究所� goals. For Iginla, it was his team-leading eighth goal of the season. Price assisted on both goals.
For Medicine Hat, Shane Smith scored his seventh, eighth, and ninth goals of the season, completing the hat trick.
With the weekend split, the Rockets are 3-4-1 on the season, sitting third in the BC Division and eighth in the Western Conference.
The Rockets complete their five-game homestand on Wednesday, Oct. 18 when they welcome the Swift Current Broncos (4-5-1) to town.
After a day off, the Rockets embark on a one-game road trip to take on the Tri-City Americans on Friday, Oct. 20 in Kennewick, Washington. They will then return to Kelowna to welcome the Vancouver Giants to Prospera Place on Saturday, Oct. 21.
