Sun duo earns BCFC weekly awards

Nick Wenman is the BCFC害羞草研究所檚 top offensive player, while Nate Anderson gets the special teams nod.

Nick Wenman had to wait until his third season for his first ever start in the B.C. Football Conference.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound quarterback from Cold Lake, AB made it count.

In addition to leading the Sun to victory over the Kamloops Broncos, Wenman has been named the BCFC害羞草研究所檚 offensive player of the week.

Stepping in for the injured Keith Zyla, Wenman completed 20 of 30 pass attempts for 278 yards and three touchdowns in the

Sun head coach Ben Macauley commended Wenman for his performance in his first start in junior football.

Wenman害羞草研究所檚 favourite target against Kamloops was Nate Anderson who caught seven passes from 129 yards and a major score.

But it was Anderson害羞草研究所檚 work returning kicks that earned the Salt Lake City, Utah product the BCFC害羞草研究所檚 special teams player of the week award.

Anderson, 18, returned five punts for 95 yards, setting the Sun up with good field position on several occasions.

Sun visits Rams害羞草研究所

The Sun returns to action this Saturday night in Langley for their first meeting of the season against the Rams. Kick off at McLeod Athletic Park is 7 p.m.

With the Sun (2-0) occupying top spot in the BCFC, the Rams, Vancouver Island Raiders and Westshore Rebels all have a share of second spot at 1-1. Kamloops and the Valley Huskers are both at 0-2.

In other action this weekend, the Raiders will be in Chilliwack, while the Rebels visit Kamloops.

Okanagan害羞草研究所檚 next home action is against the Huskers on Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Apple Bowl. Kick off is 7 p.m.

Through two weeks of play, Sun receiver Kyler Mosley shares the BCFC lead in both touchdowns (3) and points (18) with Langley害羞草研究所檚 Joe Carter.

Nate Anderson is No. 1 in receiving yards with 205 and leads in punt return yards with 97.

Sun kicker Isaac Wegner and Raiders kicker James Parker share the conference lead for field goals (4).

Sun defensive back Tye Kitzman leads the BCFC with 29 defensive points and shares the BCFC lead in interceptions with two.
