Canadian Wildfire Conference to be hosted in Kelowna

The fourth annual Canadian Wildfire Conference is coming to Kelownaº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence on Oct. 26.

The conference is a two-day event to discuss practices for aerial and ground wildfire personnel.

Topics of focus include government policies and procedures, new products impacting the sector, interoperability, innovation and challenges.

The event will include a presentation from Kelowna Fire Department deputy fire chief Larry Watkinson. He will discuss the deploying of resources for structure protection and how to better manage resources between air and ground support.

Prior to the conference, Summerhill Pyramid Winery is hosting an appreciation dinner Oct. 25. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a light reception, then Canadian sports broadcaster and founder of SickNotWeak Michael Landsberg will speak before dinner is served at 6:45 p.m.

The dinner will fundraise for SickNotWeak, an organization working to end stigmas around mental health and illness.
