Sunflower Festival to bloom in Spallumcheen starting this weekend

The Bloom Sunflower Festival takes place in Spallumcheen from Sept. 22 to Oct. 6, 2024.

The popular Bloom Sunflower Festival is returning to the North Okanagan at a brand-new location starting this weekend. 

Bloom Flower Festivals has announced that this year's Sunflower Festival will take place at 4289 Salmon River Rd., in Spallumcheen starting Sunday, Sept. 22, and running until Oct. 6. 

The hours of the festival are 12-7 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday to Sunday. Magic hour (sunrise) is available Thursday to Sunday at 6 a.m. 

The four-acre sunflower field will be the backdrop for photos and unforgettable fall memories. This year's festival brings a fresh twist with local partnerships and unique experiences for visitors. 

Festival-goers can stroll through golden sunflower fields, pick their own flowers and capture stunning photos º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù” and for any budding photographers, besides admission there is no additional cost to take pictures on-site.

People can take blooms home with several U-pick options from $3 for a single stem to $50 pails that allow pickers to fit as many stems as they can into their bucket.

"This yearº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s festival is all about creating magical moments and celebrating the beauty of sunflowers with our friends, family, and visitors."

Fridays at the sunflower fields are free for children under 15. 

Monet Meets Merlot will lead two fun-filled paint sessions on Sept. 22 and 29, with classes at 2 and 4 p.m. 

Another event is Yoga in the Sunflowers, where people can experience a peaceful yoga session with Tanya Snow on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. The field will be closed to the public during the class to make for a serene setting.

Locals' night takes place Sept. 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. when residents of Armstrong, Spallumcheen, Vernon, Coldstream, Enderby, Falkland and Salmon Arm are invited to join for only $12 per ticket. 

Another residents' night is on Oct. 3 and is open exclusively to Armstrong and Spallumcheen residents with free admission by donation to the local food bank with SNFLWR Investment Corporation matching contributions.

In fact, any festival attendees have the opportunity to take home stems while supporting the local food bank through the Food for Flowers initiative, presented by SNFLWR. Guests can bring up to five non-perishable food items and receive one sunflower stem per donation, with SNFLWR matching food bank contributions throughout the festival. 

Ticket prices are $18 for adults (gate price $25), $15 for seniors (gate price $20), and $12 for children (gate price $15) and free on Fridays. Visitors are encouraged to at the discount rates. 

Limited capacity and complimentary parking are available.
