Okanagan wildfire responders were recognized for their efforts in the 2023 wildfire season during a ceremony on April 27.
Memorial Park in West Kelowna was packed with firefighters and other first responders so the community could say thank you.
The Okanagan Wildfire Responders Gratitude welcomed firefighters from multiple communities, as well as the BC Wildfire Service, RCMP, BC Ambulance paramedics and search and rescue volunteers.

A ceremony was held in the morning with the Walk of Heros led by Fire Chief Jason Brolund and the West Kelowna Firefighter Honour Guard, followed by the handing out of Honour Coins for each first responder.
After the formal portion of the day, everyone was treated to a barbecue lunch and entertainment on the Big Blue Box Stage.
