The large iconic herons have returned to town, and efforts are underway to ensure they keep coming back.

害羞草研究所淭he Herons are an integral part of our local ecosystem, and I am happy to report they continue to come back,害羞草研究所� said Rita Bos, Vernon Heronry Protection Society senior director. 害羞草研究所淭his is the 37th year and their numbers are increasing. There is even an eagle that has built a nest amongst the herons.害羞草研究所�

In celebration of the birds, a local restaurant and photographer have teamed up to offer support.

Located next to the heron rookery, The Roster Sports Club Bar & Grill has a soft spot for the big birds.

So in support of the Heron Society, The Roster is selling photo cards of the birds from local photographer Tom Skinner, from April 15 to May 31.

Purchase a card for $5 and/or enter the raffle for the large 24 by 32 inch heron print for $5, all donated by Skinner, a former educated turned photographer.
