A small kitten with a serious eye issue was found alone in an Okanagan yard, on Aug. 13. 

The thin feline was taken in by an AlleyCats Alliance volunteer and cleaned up before being driven to the non-profit害羞草研究所檚 partner veterinarian.

The charity decided to name the kitten, Keller, after Hellen Keller who overcame and triumphed over her adversities. 

Keller was given medication and bottle-fed at the veterinarian, as everyone hoped for the best that the wobbly kitten would make it through the night. 

The next day he was doing better than expected, he had used his litter box and even tried wet food. Now, the goal would be to get him healthy enough to undergo eye surgery, said AlleyCats Alliance. 

The non-profit is completely volunteer-driven and relies on donations to help cats like Keller, who are in desperate need of veterinary care. 

A call went out to raise donations and Keller was seen by an eye specialist, with a day set for surgery. 

Each day Keller is getting stronger, and while he has a long road ahead of him, AlleyCats confirmed he is playing with toys and eating more each day. He even has a giant stuffed animal he cuddles with each night.
