Unusual summer snowfall at Big White Ski Resort

If you thought Kelowna害羞草研究所檚 Big White Ski Resort didn害羞草研究所檛 receive snow in the summer, think again.

Non-sticking summer snowfall isn害羞草研究所檛 an unusual sight on the mountain.

害羞草研究所淭he top of the mountain sits at 7,606 feet higher than Whistler Blackcomb and it snows at least once every month,害羞草研究所 said Michael Ballingall Sr. Vice President of Sale and Marketing at Big White Ski Resort.

But, that wasn害羞草研究所檛 the case for avid mountain biker Brock Curzon who described his time on the lower level biking runs as quite the experience.

害羞草研究所淎ny time it害羞草研究所檚 wet the riding is way more challenging but this was also dealing with hail pelting off your face, temperatures as low as -2 C, winds as high as 20 km/hr, plus the rain, snow and mud on your goggles.害羞草研究所

Curzon explained that extremely hot conditions leave little to no moisture for the dirt and that snow is not ideal either. He said the snow was beginning to accumulate on one of the Bullet chair lift decks.

Big White Mountain staff said this is the wettest summer season they害羞草研究所檝e witnessed since their mountain bike park opening three summers ago.

Ballingal said the mountain is expecting a set of drier patches this coming week.
