Dubbed the Literary Society害羞草研究所檚 害羞草研究所渕ost requested volunteer,害羞草研究所� Betty Beck has been recognized for her tireless dedication to the community with the Volunteer Award at the 2024 Community Leader Awards.
Beck has been a valuable and respected volunteer at the Literary Society害羞草研究所檚 digital literacy program for over seven years.
害羞草研究所淗er service to our organization represents hundreds of volunteer hours, serving dozens of learners,害羞草研究所� said Wendy Aasen, outreach coordinator for the society. 害羞草研究所淭he digital program has grown and expanded to more workshops in part due to Beck害羞草研究所檚 work.害羞草研究所�
Beck helps learners connect with family and friends they wouldn害羞草研究所檛 otherwise be able to, reducing loneliness and isolation. She helps learners access the services and information they need to support their help.
害羞草研究所淓very week, Beck can be seen found patiently troubleshooting and guiding their learning with skill and kindness,害羞草研究所� added Aasen.
To go along with her work at the Literary Society, Beck also provides her expertise and leadership at:
- Emergency Support Services (since 2007)
- Volunteer management chair at the 2017 55+ Games and 2019 Special Olympics
- Vernon Performing Arts Centre (since 2018)
- Director of volunteer and participant services of 2022 B.C. Winter Games
- Volunteer xoordinator and sirector for Friends of Okanagan Rail Trail
- Halina Activity Centre
- Harwood block team captain (since 2001)
The CLA害羞草研究所檚 are a revived program started by the Vernon Morning Star, to recognize leaders in and around the community that have been working behind the scenes.
There were a number of submissions for 12 specific categories, which range from mentorship, coaching, volunteering and leadership.
