Okanagan Guitar Festival returns to teach and entertain

The Okanagan Guitar Festival returns for a third year from July 4 to 7.

Concerts, masterclasses, and workshops are part of the Okanagan Guitar Festival as it returns to Kelowna for a third year.

Performers include Canadian classical guitarists and teachers Daniel Bolshoy, Iliana Matos, Alec Pearson, Galina JItlina, Philip Hansen on cello, and the debut of former students now the Western Canadian Guitar Quartet.   

Concerts will be held at St. Michael害羞草研究所檚 Cathedral (608 Sutherland Avenue) with the masterclasses and workshops at UBC Okanagan. 

The program is scheduled for July 4-7:

Wednesday, July 3, 4:30 p.m. - Meet the Classical Guitar.  Get acquainted with the beautiful sounds of classical guitar at a mini-concert by Alec Pearson and Carson Sautner at the Kelowna Downtown Library; 

Thursday, July 4, 7:15 pm - Guitar meets cello concert with Alec Pearson and Phillip Hansen;

Friday, July 5, 7:15 p.m. - Daniel Bolshoy and Western Canadian Guitar Quartet with solo works by Tejay Liao, Josh Searles and Austin Culler;

Saturday, July 6, 7:15 p.m. - Iliana Matos and Western Canadian Guitar Quartet;

Sunday, July 7, 2:30 p.m. - Free performances by festival participants plus Suzuki method specialist Galina Jitlina with a youth ensemble.  Admission to the Sunday concert is by donation.
