Work has started on the Shannon Lake Road Active Transportation Corridor (ATC).

A new multi-use pathway, road improvements, lighting, and storm-water upgrades are being done along Shannon Lake Road between the Kinsmen Park lower soccer field and Swite Road. 

Construction includes a roundabout at the Asquith and Shannon Lake Road intersection.

Single-lane alternating traffic is in effect on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the possibility of weekend work. Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.

Area businesses will remain open during construction. Pedestrian, emergency vehicle, transit, and school bus access will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is subject to weather conditions, contractor schedule changes, and other factors.

The $5.2 million project will be done in two sections and is expected to be completed in summer 2025.

Up to $500,000 in funding is provided under the B.C. Active Transportation Infrastructure Grant Program.
