The political fate of BC United candidates in the Central Okanagan hangs in the balance, following news the party has suspended its campaign for the provincial election.

They include Kelowna Centre candidate Michael Humer, Kelowna-Mission candidate Ashley Ramsay, Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream candidate Pavneet Singh, and West Kelowna-Peachland candidate Stephen Johnston.

All current BC United candidates will take part in a meeting at 2:30 p.m. to learn more details.

It is expected that leader Kevin Falcon will not run again, but a handful of current BC United MLAs are said to run as Conservatives. Black Press Media is currently reaching out to them for confirmation.

BC Conservative Leader John Rustad has called a news conference for 2:40 p.m.

The move comes with BC United in third or fourth place in many polls and the Conservatives within single-digits of the NDP.

BC United's decision comes as a major surprise as the party had spent the last days and weeks making major announcements on several subjects.
