City of West Kelowna has solution to water discolouration problem

Options have been identified to deal with water discolouration in the Rose Valley Water Service Area.

Options have been identified to deal with water discolouration  in the Rose Valley Water Service Area.

Although the City of West Kelowna maintains the water is safe to drink, and no water quality advisories are needed, customers have been putting up with light to dark brown water. 

There is a precautionary, isolated water quality advisory related to watermain flushing in the former West Kelowna Estates System.

Higher levels of manganese, a lingering effect of last year害羞草研究所檚 McDougall Creek wildfire, are to blame for the issue. The city accounted for those effects but did not foresee the amounts of manganese, according to a statement.

An alternative source of drinking water is available at the bulk filling station at Asquith and Shannon Lake Roads.
