UPDATE: One in critical condition following crash in Oyama

The single-vehicle crash took place around 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3; a second occupant suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries

One person is in critical condition following a single-vehicle crash on Pelmewash Parkway in Oyama Saturday morning, Aug. 3.

Lake Country RCMP responded to the vehicle that went into the ditch around 8:15 a.m. The crash involved a silver SUV that was heading south on Pelmewash Parkway at Cornell Road. 

The vehicle had two occupants. One sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries while the other is in critical condition, RCMP said in a media release shortly after 12 p.m. Saturday.

Traffic is still single-lane alternating and will be fully reopened once RCMP analysts have completed their assessments.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Lake Country RCMP at 250-762-2288 and refer to police file number 2024-44402.

Traffic is currently reduced to single-lane alternating on Pelmewash Parkway in Oyama, following a vehicle crash that took place Saturday morning. 

The single-vehicle crash took place around 8:15 a.m. Aug. 3, just north of Kalwood Road.

Firefighters and RCMP remain on scene to investigate the incident, as of 11:45 a.m.

The vehicle is believed to have been travelling in the southbound lane and can be seen heavily damaged in the ditch. 

It is currently unknown how many people were in the vehicle and to what extent the occupants were injured.
