Businesses from around the Okanagan took part in building what was joked as the most affordable houses in the valley, on Nov. 22.

The fundraising event for Habitat for Humanity invited various businesses to the Laurel Packing House in Kelowna to build the best gingerbread house.

Teams worked together using various candy, frosting and chocolate to build an architectural wonder of a gingerbread house.

No artificial interior materials, such as styrofoam, glue or wood were allowed to be used, but delicious candy from home was given the thumbs up to use.

Each team had three hours to build, however, violations could be handed out making the creation of the home more difficult.

Violations included each team member building with one arm behind their back, wearing a glove for 10 minutes or stealing another person from a different team to help with the build.

All of the funds raised at the Jingle Bell Build Corporate Edition went to Habitat for Humanity Okanagan.

The gingerbread homes will be on display from Dec.1-3 at the Community Booth at Orchard Park Mall.
