Kelowna company hosts golf tourney, sends Make-A-Wish girl to Disneyland

The event raised over $10,000, more than 10x the amount from the year previous; 3rd annual event on May 24

It害羞草研究所檚 amazing the difference a year can make.

Last May, a Kelowna fundraising golf tournament saw a ten times increase, compared to the inaugural event, benefiting a local Make-A-Wish child.

City Electric Supply (CES) Kelowna hosted its second annual golf tournament recently and raised a total of $10,246. This comes just a year after the inaugural event raised less than $1,000.

害羞草研究所淲e challenged ourselves to raise enough funds to grant one wish with the tournament funds,害羞草研究所 said CES Kelowna district manager James Cookson. 害羞草研究所淲e all love the organization, so it was a great goal for us, and the funds raised helped contribute to granting wishes in our local community.害羞草研究所

All the money raised helped send a local Make-A-Wish child and her sister on a trip of a lifetime.

害羞草研究所淢ake-A-Wish sent a girl and her sister to Disneyland for a week,害羞草研究所 added Cookson. 害羞草研究所淲e brought them a bunch of toys, and they even had their own plane and hotel. The kids were so excited to go. It was nice to see firsthand the impact our fundraiser had on these people.害羞草研究所

Cookson and CES saw their event grow in a massive way and they plan on only making it bigger for the third annual event, which is coming up on May 24.

害羞草研究所淭here are so many moving parts in an event like this,害羞草研究所 said Cookson. 害羞草研究所淲e had around 110 people attend our first year. It takes a bit to grow, and we learned a lot about collecting, getting everyone together, and assigning tasks. I害羞草研究所檇 say it was challenging, but it was also fun.害羞草研究所

害羞草研究所淲e害羞草研究所檝e thought about different ways to grow it and we害羞草研究所檙e excited to see what we can do next. Just like with our business, we害羞草研究所檙e always looking to improve,害羞草研究所 Cookson continued.

Former BC Lions head coach and member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame Wally Buono was in attendance at last year害羞草研究所檚 event.

This year, CES has set their goal of raising $15,000.
