Wildfire on west side of Okanagan Lake near Fintry now under control

The fire is currently spot sized and out of control

UPDATE: 7:30 p.m.

The wildfire that sparked off Westside Road in the Fintry area on Saturday is now under control.

The blaze grew to .009 hectares and according to BC Wildfire, it is not projected to spread beyond the current perimeter. 

BC Wildfire stated the suspected cause of the blaze was lightning. 


A new wildfire has sparked on the west side of Okanagan Lake Saturday, Aug. 10.

The fire is located near Fintry Provincial Park and is currently spot sized at an estimated 0.009 hectares. 

The fire is classified as being out of control, meaning it is expected to spread beyond its current perimeter. 

BC Wildfire Service says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
