A truck crashed in Okanagan Lake in the Peachland area on July 27, 2024.

Vehicle fluids and asphalt are having to be cleaned out of Okanagan Lake after a deck truck and its trailer crashed.

The crash happened in the early hours of July 27 off Highway 97 in the Peachland area.

The Peachland Fire Department and a tow truck company were called to the site of the crash.

A boom was placed around the impacted area and the truck and trailer were pulled from the lake.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has been called in to conduct the clean.

The asphalt sealcoating trailer had a storage capacity of 900 litres but was not full at the time of the crash. The amount spilled in the lake is unknown.

Contractors were on site on July 28 to start cleaning up and collect water samples.

Interior Health has been notified of the spill.

The boom will remain in place until the area is cleaned.
