Vandals topple trees in Kelowna's Mission Ridge Park

An RCMP investigation is underway into who cut down a number of Ponderosa pines in Kelowna害羞草研究所檚 Mission Ridge Park. 

The incident was reported to the City of Kelowna and attended by staff who discovered 10 mature pines that were destroyed and two that were damaged.

害羞草研究所淲e are taking this offense seriously,害羞草研究所 said Todd Cashin, urban forestry manager for the city. 害羞草研究所淭hese specific trees were used to provide stability to the steep, sandy slopes of Mission Ridge Park.害羞草研究所

Cashin noted the removal of these trees will increase the erosion potential in the park, adding slope stability is key to protecting the homes at the top of the slope.

A city media releases states the downed trees now represent a potential wildfire fuel hazard which will need to be mitigated.  

害羞草研究所淭his illegal destruction of municipal property is a serious offence, punishable by steep fines (approximately $100,000),害羞草研究所 the release said.
