It害羞草研究所檚 a massive weekend ahead for Kelowna sports.
Okanagan Sun
The Sun is off to Vancouver Island with the hopes of capturing their second consecutive Cullen Cup - British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) title. It is the second straight year that the Sun and the Westshore Rebels are meeting in the B.C. finals.
Westshore is hosting the finals as they害羞草研究所檙e the number one seed after finishing the regular season with a 10-0 record. The Sun finished with an 8-1 record. In their only regular season game against each other this season, the Rebels beat the Sun 52-23.
The winner will host the Canadian Cup against either Saskatoon or St. Clair. Okanagan, who won the Canadian Cup last year, hasn害羞草研究所檛 hosted the game since 2000 while Westshore last hosted the final in 2016.
Kick-off on Saturday, Oct. 28 is at 3 p.m. at Starlight Stadium.
Kelowna Rockets
Winners of four in a row, the Kelowna Rockets are looking to extend their winning streak on the road in Washington State this weekend.
On Friday night, the Rockets are in Spokane to take on the Chiefs, whom they beat 6-3 on home ice back on Oct. 7. After the game, they害羞草研究所檒l travel west on Highway 2 to take on the WHL害羞草研究所檚 newest team, the Wenatchee Wild on Saturday night. In the second game of the season, the Rockets beat the Wild 5-3, also on home ice.
Going into the weekend, the Rockets sit second in the B.C. Division and third in the Western Conference with a record of 7-4-1. Wenatchee is sixth in the West with a 6-6-1 record while Spokane is 4-4-2, ninth in the West.
The biggest difference between the Rockets害羞草研究所� first eight games and their four-game winning streak is the defence. Throughout the first eight games, the Rockets allowed 5.625 goals per game on average. During the winning streak, they害羞草研究所檙e allowing just 3.5 goals per game while scoring almost six goals per game.
Friday night害羞草研究所檚 puck drop in Spokane is at 7:05 p.m. while Saturday害羞草研究所檚 in Wenatchee is at 6 p.m.
West Kelowna Warriors
It害羞草研究所檚 a one-game weekend for the West Kelowna Warriors, who head to Cranbrook to take on the Bucks on Saturday night.
Going into the final game of October, the Warriors are 5-2-1 in the month and looking to finish the month strong. They害羞草研究所檙e currently second in the BCHL害羞草研究所檚 Interior Conference with an 8-3-1 record on the year.
This season so far has been tough on Cranbrook as they have only one win in October and sit last in the Interior with a 3-8-1 record.
Saturday night害羞草研究所檚 contest starts at 6 p.m. Pacific at Western Financial Place.
Kelowna Chiefs
The Kelowna Chiefs also have a one-game weekend as they host the Spokane Braves on Saturday night at Rutland Arena.
After two losses against Revelstoke last weekend, the Chiefs are 3-8-1 on the season, sitting third in the Bill Ohlhausen Division. Spokane is last in the Neil Murdoch Division with a 3-6-1 record.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
UBC Okanagan
After a record-setting regular season, the UBC Okanagan Heat women害羞草研究所檚 soccer team is looking to make some noise in their return to the Canada West playoffs.
This season, the team set program records in wins (eight), goals for (30), and goals against (20). Heat forward Stephane Young led the team with 14 goals.
It害羞草研究所檚 been a long six seasons, as this is the program害羞草研究所檚 first time in the playoffs since 2016, and only the second time ever making the second season. Going into the playoffs, the Heat finished third in the Pacific Division with an 8-4-2 record and will be heading to Saskatchewan to take on the Huskies, who finished second in the Prairie Division (10-3-1). Earlier this season, the Heat beat the Huskies 3-2.
Kick-off on Saturday in Saskatoon is at 12 p.m. Pacific and is available to watch on .
