Students and staff at Summerland Secondary School are launching a drive for donations for the school害羞草研究所檚 new gym.
The gym construction project is nearing completion and the fundraising drive has been launched to raise $25,000 by the end of April.
The drive is targeting logos, branding and artwork, an upgraded LED score clock and 30-second timer, an upgraded outdoor LED sign and an upgraded sound system.
All donations over $50 will receive an income tax receipt from the Okanagan Skaha School District.

Alan Stel, principal of Summerland Secondary School, said there is still a lot of work to be done inside the new gym. At present, the project is proceeding on time and on budget.
He said the fundraising project is for value-added pieces for the gym.
A copy of the fundraising letter has been sent to the school害羞草研究所檚 parent community and to alumni groups.
Those interested in contributing to the site are asked to visit or to contact the school or school district to make a donation.
Once the gym is completed, Stel would like to see a wall set up, listing those who have contributed to various aspects of the project.
Work on the gym began in June, 2023 and is expected to conclude by the late fall of 2024. When the gym is completed, it will replace the existing structure at the school, which was constructed in 1951. The existing gym is not large enough for regulation sports courts.
In 2020, the school district committed $10.5 million for the gym replacement. Once the project is completed, the high school害羞草研究所檚 gym will be similar to other regular high school gyms in the province.
The existing gym will still be used after the new gym is opened.
