The 270 crosses placed near the cenotaph at Kelowna City Park are a reminder of the men and women Canada has lost fighting battles overseas.

Military Historian with the Okanagan Military Museum Keith Boehmer said, 害羞草研究所淚t害羞草研究所檚 a visual representation of the crosses in the cemeteries in Europe and elsewhere in the world that Canadians have served in and where many of our fallen comrades rest.害羞草研究所�

The display was set up the morning of Nov. 2 with a small ceremony that recognized living family members of the soldiers whose names are etched into the cenotaph. The national anthem was sung, the Last Post played, and a wreath was laid for the unknown soldier.

Boehmer said the crosses serve as a great educational tool in helping keep the memory of these soldiers alive.

害羞草研究所淭he museum is partnered with the school district and home school associations and private schools to encourage students from the middle grades to do a bit of a biographical study on some of the names, become familiar with who these people were, and then come to the museum to add some more context to some of the things that are on display, and then wrap it up by visiting the crosses here and finding their soldier.害羞草研究所�

A new Facebook group has been set up for the Field of Crosses. Boehmer said they are looking for donations to keep the annual display running.

The museum will host an open house on Remembrance Day and Boehmer is encouraging families to make it a regular part of their Remembrance Day.

A candlelight ceremony will be held Nov. 10 at 4:30 p.m. for anyone who wishes to attend. The Field of Crosses will be on display until Nov. 12.
