A water advisory for parts of Okanagan Beach in Penticton has been lifted.

A swimming advisory at Okanagan Beach in Penticton was lifted on Saturday, July 27.

In an update at 2:45 p.m., city officials said the water advisory º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù” issued between the S.S. Sicamous and just west of Power Street º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù” is no longer in effect.

The section of the beach closed Friday afternoon, July 26, after a sample test identified higher-than-normal levels of E.coli bacteria.

Issued by the city in conjunction with Interior Health (IH), the advisory said bacterial levels were higher than those allowed in Health Canadaº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s Guidelines for Canadian Recreational Water Quality.

Signage that warns against swimming in the area is currently being removed, the city added in its update.
