Vernon road closed after truck crashes into power pole

A pick up truck crashed into a power pole in Vernon on Tuesday, March 12, closing Kalamalka Lake Road around 4 p.m.

The incident happened near the Pottery Road intersection, and traffic has been closed for a block.

One occupant was in the truck, and injuries are unknown at the time.

Police, fire and ambulance are all on the scene.

The crash resulted in a power outage east of Highway 97, west of Highway 6, south of Pottery Road and north of Kalamalka Road. The outage affected 2,230 people.

Power has since been restored, and the road was cleared and reopened around 8 p.m., according to RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski.
