UPDATE: 4:30 p.m.

Some properties in Okanagan Falls will be without water service for several hours during the day next week.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) says service interruptions are coming for properties along Maple Street, south of 10th Ave to Ferguson Pl., from Aug. 12 to 16, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Scheduled interruptions come after the RDOS issued a water quality advisory for the community on Thursday morning, Aug. 8.

"In preparation for the water service shut down, please ensure that you have an adequate supply of water on hand for domestic use," the district said.

"Once service is restored, you may notice adverse water quality."

Work in the area will impact local traffic  "in order to facilitate new and upgraded utility services in the area," RDOS added.

Drivers can expect closures at Maple Street, between the bridge south of 10th Avenue and Weyerhauser Road.

For more information, people are asked to call 250-490-4135.

Okanagan Falls has been hit with a water quality advisory.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) issued the notice to all residents in the community's lower zone on Thursday, Aug. 8.

"The water quality advisory is due to the very high and unexpected water demand spikes stirring up a significant amount of sediment in the water mains on Wednesday evening," the district said in a press release.

"This has resulted in high turbidity in the lower zone of the water system."

The advisory º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù” which is a level of notification below a boil water notice º¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù” will remain in effect until further notice, RDOS officials added.

Residents may see some discolouration in their water during this time.

"If you experience dirty water, simply run your cold water taps only and/or garden hose until the water runs clear," the district said.

People looking for additional protection can use a safe, alternate source of water. They could also boil water for all drinking, brushing teeth, and food preparation/cooking purposes, the RDOS advised.

"The RDOS is reminding all business owners/operators (bed and breakfasts) and operators of public facilities that it is the responsibility of these establishments to notify customers of the water quality advisory. "

For after-hours water emergencies, people are asked to call 250-490-4141.
