A water quality advisory issued last week in Okanagan Falls was rescinded on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, in conjunction with Interior Health, said the advisory is no longer in effect for the lower zone of the community's water system.

However, a water quality advisory that began Monday for properties on Maple Street, south of 10th Avenue to Ferguson Place, remains in effect, the regional district added. Water service interruptions will stay in effect for properties along Maple Street until Aug. 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., as a result.

"The RDOS would also like to remind all business owners/operators (hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, wineries, stores) and public facilities operators it is the responsibility of said establishments to notify customers of the rescinded water quality advisory," a news release reads.

The advisory was issued last Thursday after "very high and unexpected water demand spikes stirring up a significant amount of sediment in the water mains," according to the RDOS.
