Eating right helps inflammation says a Kelowna letter writer.

To the editor:

I was interested to read Mr Latimerº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù™s column (Capital News July 19) on the connection between inflammation and mental illness. However I was very disappointed that the column focused only on a new drug being tested and made no mention of diet.

Research has shown that diet plays a major part in our health and that certain foods are anti-inflammatory. The optimum diet to combat inflammation and many chronic diseases is a whole food, plant based diet. In other words, a healthy vegan diet that revolves around real food, not packaged junk. This is not a new findingº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù”the information has been building for 100 yearsº¦Ðß²ÝÑо¿Ëù”so why is it that so few people realize the importance of eating right to stay well?
