Penticton arm wrestling club formed 48 years ago

Tournament will be held during Summerland Action Festival

Arm wrestling will be part of the Summerland Action Festival.

The arm wrestling event will be held June 1 in Memorial Park, starting at 2:15 p.m. Weigh-ins will be held from noon to 2 p.m.

The event includes weight classes for men and women, a masters class for those 40 and older and a youth division for those between six and 17 years of age.

The tournament is sponsored by the Summerland Kinsmen.

The arm wrestling championship tournament is still being run by the person who organized it 48 years ago.

People involved with this event believe it is the longest running arm wresting tournament in the world.

This year, it is the last tournament the Penticton club will attend before going on to the nationals in Gatineau, Que.

The Penticton club is a small group of men who been on the podium at nationals. Some members train regularly from Princeton, Clinton and as far as Fernie. Three of the club害羞草研究所檚 members have been on Team Canada.

Keith Koenig, now in his 80s, was the founder of the tournament and still runs the arm wresting tournament at Summerland Action Festival.

The club practices every Sunday from Brian Moore害羞草研究所檚 garage in Penticton.
