Bird on a wire: 3,000 in the dark in Lake Country, Fintry

More than 3,330 BC Hydro customers are without power

Power is out along both sides of Okanagan Lake after a bird flew into hydro lines, sparking a minor fire.

More than 3,330 BC Hydro customers in Lake Country, Pixie Beach, Fintry and Killiney Beach are in the dark.

The incident happened just after 10 a.m. Friday and BC Hydro says its crews arrived on scene at 12:30 p.m. for repairs.

There is currently no estimated time for the power to be restored.
